She was the author of an opinion piece for The Guardian, published in 2017 on her journey of suicide. Bea was raised alongside her younger sister Sinead by Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary instructor, trainer of jockeys, and former professional racer. The family was awed by horses, race meetings as well as the race industry. Bea was a trainer for her family's involvement at the Irish National Stud in her early years. She knew, however it wasn't something she wanted to pursue as a profession and preferred performing.
